Paramount was founded over 30 years ago, and our story is one categorised by determination, family – and just a little faith in the future! 

In 1988, Ali Hannaford watched her father’s seafood processing business close through acquisition. Taking matters into her own hands, Ali used her £3,500 severance to buy a car, fax machine and computer, and wrote the business plan for Paramount21 at her kitchen table. 

Opening our first factory just a week later, Paramount focused on crafting a range of fishcakes and value-added frozen seafood for the foodservice industry.

30 years on and Paramount remains an independently-owned family business, with a delicious selection of seafood, vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free dishes. 

Our innovative and highly-skilled NPD team constantly strives to create on trend, in-demand products that also make life easier for our customers. Our range is always simple to prepare, provides portion control, limits waste, and continues to pick up a number of accolades.  

In 2019 we received Gold Taste of the West awards for our Luxury Veggie Burger (F0333) and Sweet Chilli Falafels (F0874), both of which are vegan and gluten-free. Plus our gluten-free Katsu Curry Fishcake (F0831) won a 2018 Caterer Product Excellence Award in the Fish & Seafood category. 

Paramount pride ourselves on being a responsible, sustainable company – since 2017, 100% of our electricity comes from green energy sources. All food waste goes to anaerobic digestion, all non-food waste is recycled, and we are continually looking to improve our impact on the world around us. 

Our new headed and gutted MSC Coated Whitebait (F0834) was developed with sustainability in mind. The fishery is MSC certified, and the Sprattus Sprattus used in this product are rated as a ‘Fish to Eat’ by the MCS Good Fish Guide, which means the fishing stock is well managed and harvested with a low impact on other species and the environment. 

As Paramount looks forward to our 31st year of trading we will always be proud of our roots, whilst looking to the future to create the most innovative, sustainable, competitively-priced and popular dishes for our customers.
